Timber Treatment

StowAg provides timber that has been professionally treated to protect wood from rot, decay, insects, weather damage and environmental factors. Treated timber is designed for long-term performance in fencing, agriculture and equestrian use. As well as decking, landscaping, and other utility applications.

We offer industry-leading solutions including Creosote, Tanasote® and Tanalith® E, ensuring the right protection for every environment and project.

Creosote Timber Treatment

Creosote-treated timber is a durable, long-lasting solution for demanding outdoor environments.

Benefits

  • Deep penetration for maximum protection
  • Exceptional resistance to moisture, rot, and pests
  • Long service life with minimal maintenance

Applications

Creosote treated wood is often used in environments with high moisture levels and exposure to the elements. It is not permitted for use in areas where contact is frequent with the general public, such as playgrounds or residential areas, as proper precaution should be taken during handling and application.

Finish

Dark brown to black appearance. Colour variation can be due to several factors, including species of timber, heartwood/sapwood content, moisture content, age of creosote and many more. The finished colour does not affect the service life of the treated timber.

Regulations

Restricted to professional, agricultural, and equestrian use. Not suitable for public or residential contact areas.

Tanasote® Timber Treatment

Tanasote® treated timber is a modern, oil-based alternative to creosote, offering strong protection with improved usability.

Benefits

  • Deep oil-based penetration for enhanced durability
  • Helps reduce splitting and cracking
  • Lower odour and more user-friendly

Applications

Agricultural and equestrian fencing, railway sleepers, and utility poles. No unacceptable risk is identified for professionals or non-professionals working with treated wood or for the general public. Tanasote® treated timber is considered acceptable for infants in a playground risk assessment scenario - please note, Tanasote® has not been designed for this end-use application, but it reinforces the acceptable risk that the BPR process has identified.

Finish

Emerald green initially, darkening to a rich brown/black, similar to creosote.

Tanalith® E Pressure Treated Timber

Tanalith® E treated timber is a high-performance, pressure-treated solution for structural and outdoor applications.

Benefits

  • Proven durability with over 30 years of performance
  • Protection against fungal decay and insect attack
  • Suitable for above-ground and in-ground use

Applications

Decking, fencing, cladding, landscaping, and construction timber.

Finish

Green when treated, weathering to brown and eventually silver-grey over time.
